The Luxury Hotelschool Paris publishes an annual study on hospitality management programmes in France since 2013. The study highlights the differences between a bachelor's and a master's degree delivered by a university on the one hand and a French “Bachelor”, “MBA” or “MSc” certificate on the other hand.
The Luxury Hotelschool Paris is the only hotel school in France to prepare a Master's degree, it is the French hotel management school with the highest academic level. The school has also forged alliances for over 25 years with numerous luxury hotels and international hotel chains, as well as two academic collaborations with EHL (Lausanne) and eCornell.

In France as elsewhere, only a university can deliver a Master's degree. In France, hotel school ussually deliver professional certifications that are marketed under the names MBA, MSc or master of science. In this case, only the professional certifications arer approved by the state; the MBA, MSc or master of science are just appelations and are not State-approved.
An ordinance dated April 25th, 2002 in France creates the master's degree and article 7 states that only public institutions duly recognised can award the Master's degree. This does not include any hotel management programme in France, except the Master's degree at the Luxury Hotelschool, jointly delivered with London South Bank Univesity.
MSc, MBA and master of science in France are not Master's degree when they are not awarded by a university, they are professional certifications instead. The RNCP is the directory of these certifications and is available online. The certification is State-approved, the MBA, MSc or master of science is not, it is a trade name.
The Luxury Hotelschool jointly delivers the Master in international tourism and hospitality management with London South Bank University. As of 2013, it is the only authentic degree in French hotel management schools.
The UK master is one of the most prestigious degree in the world. Graduates can request an official comparison with French degrees if required. An example of the document they receive is accessible below.
